MeiGray Group Offers Fans Opportunity To Bid On Kelly Cup Finals' Game-Worn Jerseys, Goal |
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL in association with The MeiGray Group announced that for the first time in history, the game-worn jerseys, goal-scoring pucks and game-used pucks from the 2005 Kelly Cup Finals will be made available to collectors around the globe.
One set of 20 home white jerseys from the National Conference champion Trenton Titans and one set of 20 road navy blue jerseys from the American Conference champion Florida Everblades will be up for bid beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 26. Every jersey being auctioned will be affixed with the official 2005 Kelly Cup Finals patch. The jerseys will be worn in Game 3 on Friday at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, N.J. The jerseys will also be worn in Game 4 on Saturday unless it is the potential Kelly Cup-clinching game. Trenton leads the series 2-0, winning the first two games at Florida, 7-0 in Game 1 and 2-1 on Sunday.
Game 3 is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Game 4 is at 7 p.m. on Saturday. If necessary, Game 5 would be played on Monday at 5 p.m. Tickets for all three games are on sale now at the Sovereign Bank Arena Box Office, by telephone at (609) 599-9500 and online at TicketMaster.com.
In addition to the jerseys, the pucks from the 10 goals scored in Games 1 and 2 and eight game-used pucks from each period of Games 1 and 2 will also be available for bid. The custom pucks, which feature the names of both the Trenton Titans and the Florida Everblades bordering the 2005 Kelly Cup Finals logo, are not available for purchase anywhere else.
Every jersey will be authenticated directly after Game 3 and Game 4, if applicable, by an ECHL-MeiGray Group representative. Every puck is taken from the ice by an on-ice official and handed to an off-ice official, who turns it over to ECHL-MeiGray Group representative within moments at the game to ensure absolute authenticity.
"The Kelly Cup is indicative of ECHL supremacy, and there is no ECHL jersey more significant than a Kelly Cup-worn jersey," said Barry Meisel, MeiGray Group President and Chief Operating Officer. "And for collectors to be able to own a unique puck that actually entered the net ... and was authenticated at the scene. It doesn't get any better than that for an ECHL collector."
"The advancements made through our partnership with The MeiGray Group have allowed our fans tremendous access to ECHL game-used memorabilia." said Glen Thornborough, ECHL Vice President of Marketing/Sales. "For the first-time ever, we are able to provide collectors worldwide with the opportunity to bid not only on game-worn jerseys from the Kelly Finals, but also on game-used pucks."
Fans can access the auction at the ECHL web site (echl.com) and at The MeiGray Group web site (meigray.com) or go directly to the auction site (echlauction.at.edeal.com) to bid on the historic game-worn jerseys, goal-scoring pucks and game-used pucks from the 2005 Kelly Cup Finals.
The ECHL and The MeiGray Group have raised more than $76,000 for the Twin Towers Fund (2002), Karmanos Cancer Institute (2003), Make-A-Wish Foundation (2004), and the Professional Hockey Players' Association Health and Welfare Fund and Membership Assistance Program (2005) by auctioning off jerseys worn by the players during the 2002 ECHL All-Star Game in Trenton, N.J, the 2003 ECHL All-Star Game in Estero, Fla., the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game in Peoria, Ill., the 2005 ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, Pa., and the 2005 PHPA Captains' Club Jersey auction.
