Former Mississippi Sea Wolves forward Mike Scott suits up for the Alaska Aces of the ECHL and remains in the chase for the 2005 Kelly Cup.
In 2002-03, Scott was in his first professional season when he was acquired from the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in a trade on October 28, 2002 for future considerations. The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound Scott went on to register Sea Wolves team records for a rookie with 26 goals, 41 assists and 67 points in 64 games. During the 2003 postseason in 12 games, Scott scored six goals and picked up six assists for 12 points.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Scott is in his second season with Alaska after being traded to the Aces on September 4, 2003 for future considerations. The 28-year-old Scott appeared in all 72 regular season games in 2004-05 with the Aces, posting 17 goals, 43 assists for a total of 60 points.
In the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Scott has helped Alaska knock off the Bakersfield Condors in five games and Long Beach Ice Dogs in three straight, while netting five goals and accumulating two assists in 13 postseason games.
Scott and the Aces however, are facing elimination against the Trenton Titans, trailing the best-of-seven series 3 games to 2 in the National Conference Finals. Game 6 of the series gets underway on Friday at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage at 7:15 p.m. AT. If necessary, Game 7 will be played on Monday in Anchorage at 7:15 p.m. AT.
