Former Mississippi Sea Wolves head coach Bruce Boudreau is in his fourth season as head coach of the Manchester Monarchs in New Hampshire of the American Hockey League, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League.
In his 12th professional season as a head coach, Boudreau guided Manchester to its first-ever Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference championship during the 2004-05 regular season. Winning 20 of their first 21 games, the Monarchs earned several new single-season team records, compiling 51 victories overall including 28 home wins, 23 road wins and 110 points. Boudreau was also named head coach of the 2005 PlanetUSA AHL All-Star Team, where his club won 5-4 in the shootout on February 14.
The first head coach of the Sea Wolves, Boudreau led Mississippi from its expansion season in 1996 to the end of the 1999 campaign, capped off by winning the Kelly Cup Championship in the Sea Wolves third year.
Affectionately known as "Gabby", Boudreau left Mississippi in 1999 to become head coach in the AHL for the Lowell Lock Monsters in Massachusetts. Boudreau coached the Lowell for two seasons as the primary affiliate of Los Angeles, before the Kings changed their affiliation to Manchester.
Boudreau and his Monarchs remain involved in the 2005 AHL Calder Cup Playoffs, trailing the Providence Bruins, 3 games to 2, in the best-of-seven Atlantic Division Semifinals. Game 6 of the series will be held at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Dunkin� Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
