Garrow Goes To Utah; Cava Activated

BILOXI, Miss. � Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and head coach Bob Woods announced today that defenseman Mike Garrow has been loaned to the Utah Grizzlies of the American Hockey League, while defenseman Chris Cava has been activated off the injured reserve.

Garrow, 29, receives his first AHL call up of 2004-05 after playing parts of two seasons with Utah from 2001-03. The 6-foot-1 and 210-pound Garrow, who is under contract to Cincinnati of the AHL, has appeared in three games with Mississippi collecting two assists since being acquired in a trade on March 8 with the San Diego Gulls. A native of Kenora, Ontario, Garrow played in 46 games with San Diego this season tallying eight goals, 29 points and 34 penalty minutes.

Becoming the fifth Mississippi player to be loaned to the AHL this season, Garrow joins Jeff Hutchins (Rochester, Grand Rapids and currently Bridgeport), goaltender Matt Underhill (St. John�s and currently Providence), right wing Lee Jacobson (Cincinnati) and right wing Jay Legault (Grand Rapids).

Garrow will be available to Utah for the Grizzlies home game at 7 p.m. MT tonight against the Houston Aeros at the �E� Center in West Valley City, Utah.
 
Cava, 24, missed three games after being placed on injured reserve on March 10. In 52 games with Mississippi this season, the 6-foot and 200-pound Cava has notched career-highs of seven goals, 16 assists and 23 points to go along with a team-high of 156 penalty minutes. Named runner up for the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week honors from January 10-16, Cava, who is a native of Thunder Bay, Ontario is in his fourth full season of professional hockey and third year with the Sea Wolves.

Mississippi begins a mini two-game road trip at 6:35 p.m. CT tonight against the Gwinnett Gladiators at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia.
