BILOXI, Miss. � Pensacola goaltender Frederic Cloutier made 41 saves to register his fourth shutout of the season as the Ice Pilots blanked the Mississippi Sea Wolves 3-0 in front of 3,303 fans at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
The loss snapped the Sea Wolves four-game win streak overall and halted their five-game home win streak.
�It was a frustating game for us,� Mississippi coach Bob Woods said. �Cloutier was solid, but we didn�t create enough quality chances. We have few days to regroup and try to redeem ourselves against Pensacola on Wednesday at home.�
Pensacola (39-13-5, 83 points) opened the score at the 5:07 mark of the first period. Dwayne Hay deposited his 22nd goal of the season in close on goaltender Phil Sauve. Assists went to Aaron Phillips and Chris St. Jacques.
The Ice Pilots stretched their lead to 2-0 on the power-play in the second. Phillips centered from behind the Sea Wolves net to Nick Lindberg, who buried his 11th goal of the year at the 14:30 mark.
Mississippi (30-21-4, 64 points) outshot Pensacola in each of period, but couldn�t solve Cloutier.
Ice Pilots� Scott May put the game out of reach with 1:48 remaining in regulation by netting his 14th goal of the campaign set up by Jordan Krestanovich and Alex Materukhin.
Mississippi went 0-for-5 on the power play, while Pensacola converted on 1-of-3. Sea Wolves outshot the Ice Pilots 41-27.
Additional notes: The game marked the Third Annual Face-Off Against Kids� Cancer event. There was a commemorative jersey auction and postgame party held at the Beau Rivage, Magnolia Ballroom. The entire team was present accompanied by their special children to benefit the Courtney Boynton Foundation and Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of the Gulf Coast.
