Mississippi Announces Top Players In February

BILOXI, Miss. � Mississippi Sea Wolves Professional Hockey announced today that left wing Anthony Battaglia has been named the organization�s Player of the Month for February, center Lucas Drake is the Rookie of the Month, while Phil Sauve takes the Goaltender of the Month honors.

In 13 February games, the Sea Wolves compiled a 6-6-1 record for a .500 winning percentage.

Battaglia, 25, notched a team-high 10 goals, 18 points and a plus/minus of +4 in 13 games. The 6-foot and 195-pound Battaglia has accumulated a team-leading 22 goals and three shorthand goals, while totaling 46 points and a plus/minus of +11 in 51 games. A native of Chicago, Battaglia attended the 2004 training camp of the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Drake, 25, registered 10 assists in 14 games during the month of February. A native of Holt, Michigan, Drake has registered a total of five goals and 22 points in 46 games with the Sea Wolves this season. The 5-foot-10 and 185-pound Drake joined Mississippi last season for nine games after completing four seasons at Western Michigan.

Sauve, 25, appeared in his opening nine games last month with Mississippi, going 6-2-1 with a 3.45 goals-against average and .902 save percentage. Winning his last three starts, the 6-foot and 195-pound Sauve signed with the Sea Wolves as a free agent on January 26. Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, Sauve, who was born in Buffalo, New York is in his fifth professional hockey season.

The
Sea Wolves take to the ice at home beginning at 7:35 p.m. tomorrow against the Gwinnett Gladiators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Shoe Carnival will be giving away a special puck to the first 1,000 fans. The game promotion also consists of Military 2-for-1, sponsored by Keesler Federal Credit Union, which offers all military personnel, active or retired, two tickets for the price of one by showing military identification at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum box office.
