BILOXI, Miss. � The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League have reassigned right wing Jay Legault (leh-GOH) to the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL, while Chuck Thuss has been signed as an emergency back-up goaltender.
Legault, 25, appeared in two games with Grand Rapids going without a point over the weekend. The 6-foot-4 and 220-pound Legault has played in 36 games with the Sea Wolves in 2004-05, tallying 10 goals, 30 assists, a plus/minus of +4 and 41 penalty minutes. A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Legault registered a career-high 11-game point streak in December notching six goals and 12 assists for a total of 18 points over that span. In his fifth season of professional hockey and first year with Mississippi, Legault was selected by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the third round, 72nd overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
Thuss, 33, is in his fourth season as Mississippi�s director of player development. A native of Arkona, Ontario, Thuss played professionally for seven years, including parts of four seasons with the Sea Wolves from 1999-2002. During the 1998-99 campaign, Thuss won Mississippi's Fan Favorite award and was a member of the Mississippi�s Kelly Cup Championship team. The Sea Wolves all-time goaltending leader with eight shutouts, Thuss appeared in 120 games with the team posting 58-39-10 record, 2.88 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.
The Sea Wolves take to the ice at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow against the Columbia Inferno at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
