BILOXI, Miss. � Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and head coach Bob Woods announced today that the team has loaned left wing Jeff Hutchins to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.
Hutchins, 26, attended the 2004 training camp with the Griffins. The 6-foot and 205-pound Hutchins is coming off his first ECHL All-Star Game appearance on Wednesday, where he collected an assist as a member of the American Conference. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Hutchins also finished second in the Hardest Shot event at the ECHL All-Star Skills Competition with a slapshot registered at 92.1 miles per hour. Hutchins receives his second AHL call up of the season after scoring one goal in three games with Rochester earlier this month. In 35 games with Mississippi, Hutchins leads the team with 18 goals and six power-play tallies. He has also accumulated 16 assists, 34 points, a plus/minus of +16 and 122 penalty minutes.
Hutchins will be available to Grand Rapids for the Griffins home game at 7:30 p.m. tonight against the Milwaukee Admirals at Van Andel Arena.
The Sea Wolves host the Pee Dee Pride for the second straight game tonight at 7:35 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Promotions consist of $2 hotdogs and $2 drafts from 6:30-8:30 p.m., a Mardi Gras Parade On Ice, plus a Mardi Gras Jersey Raffle to benefit the Gulf Coast Youth Hockey Association.
