Mississippi Announces Top Players In December

BILOXI, Miss. � Mississippi Sea Wolves Professional Hockey announced today that right wing Jay Legault (leh-GOH) has been named the organization�s Player of the Month for December, defenseman Mike Jarmuth (JAHR-muhth) is the Rookie of the Month, while Matt Underhill takes the Goaltender of the Month honors.


In 12 December games, the Sea Wolves compiled a 7-4-1 record.

 

Legault, 25, registered a career-high 11-game point streak in December notching six goals and 12 assists for a total of 18 points over that stretch. The 6-foot-4 and 220-pound Legault also had a plus/minus of +5 in the month of December. A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Legault has appeared in 20 games overall this season with Mississippi tallying six goals including two power-play markers and two game-winners, 22 points and a plus/minus of +7 to go along with 24 penalty minutes. Legault was selected by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the third round, 72nd overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

Jarmuth, 22, netted two goals and three assists in 12 December games. A native of Monkton, Ontario, Jarmuth has accumulated five goals consisting of two power-play tallies, plus five assists and 10 penalty minutes in 30 games with the Sea Wolves this season. The 6-foot and 205-pound Jarmuth attended the 2004 American Hockey League training camp of the Rochester Americans.

Underhill, 25, appeared in seven games during December, posting a 4-2-1 record, highlighted by a 30-save shutout performance on December 18 at Alaska in a 3-0 victory over the Aces. The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound Underhill also compiled 2.68 goals-against average last month and .916 save percentage. A native of Campbell River, British Columbia, Underhill has played in a total of 15 games this season with Mississippi collecting an overall record of 7-5-3 with a 2.90 goals-against average and .916 save percentage.
