BILOXI, Miss. � Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and head coach Bob Woods announced today that defenseman Brian Escobedo (EHS-coh-bee-doh) has been traded to the Charlotte Checkers for future considerations, while center Russ Guzior (GOO-zee-uhr) has been activated off the injured reserve.
Escobedo, 22, appeared in eight games with Mississippi picking up three assists, two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +2. The 6-foot and 180-pound Escobedo was signed as a free agent on November 16. A native of Bayside, New York, Escobedo started the season with the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL, where he registered an assist in two games.
Guzior, 30, missed 11 games after being placed on the injured reserve on December 3. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Guzior has appeared in eight games with the Sea Wolves, posting one assist and nine penalty minutes. The 5-foot-10 and 190-pound veteran was signed by Mississippi as a free agent on November 9.
