Osaer, Wildcatters Shut Out Sea Wolves 4-0

BILOXI, Miss. Texas goaltender Phil Osaer made 34 saves and Brad Voth scored a pair of goals as the Wildcatters blanked the Mississippi Sea Wolves 4-0 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Its obvious, but were struggling to score goals, Mississippi coach Bob Woods said. We have to find a way to bear down. Right now things arent coming easy.

Texas (5-6-5, 15 points) opened the score on the power play at 9:10. Brad Voth snapped the Sea Wolves streak of killing off 18 straight opposition power plays, by netting his fifth goal of the season. James DeMone and Tim Branham collected assists.

Braham netted his first of the season to give the Wildcatters a 2-0 lead at 13:57 of the first. Andrew Ianiero hustled up the left wing side and fed a trailing Braham in the slot. Branhams high shot beat Jason Wolfe, who was celebrating his 27th birthday. Lou Dickenson also garnered a helper.

The best chance for Mississippi (6-8-1, 13 points) came off the stick of defenseman Mike Jarmuth, who slapped a shot from just inside the blueline and rang it off the goalpost and Osaer covered up on the rebound.

Sea Wolves outshot the Wildcatters 12-8 in the second period, however Osaer remained perfect through 40 minutes with Texas leading 2-0.

Just 24 seconds into the third, John Snowden snapped home his league-leading 10th goal of the year off a pass from Andew Ianiero, who was named the ECHL Player of the Week on Monday. Dean Stork also picked up an assist.

Voth netted his second of the night by unleashing a big slap shot from the left circle at 3:42. Tony Lawrence and Ryan Fultz collected assists.

Additional notes: Mississippis Lee Jacobson had two major penalties to extend his ECHL lead to 12. Jacobson fought Thomas Bellemare in the first period and Brad Voth in the third At the end of the game, Sea Wolves Louis Dumont, in his first fight in a Mississippi uniform, dropped the gloves with the Wildcatters Mark Wires.

Mississippi failed to converted on three power play chances, while Texas went 1-for-5. Sea Wolves outshot the Wildcatters 34-33.
