Davyduke Traded For Two Players

BILOXI, Miss. Mississippi Sea Wolves director of hockey operations and coach Bob Woods announced on Monday that center Kent Davyduke (DAH-vih-dewk) has been traded to the Reading Royals for center Alex Kim and forward Tom Rouleau (REW-loe).

Davyduke, 24, collected 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points as a rookie last year in 25 regular season games with Mississippi. In 12 postseason contests, Davyduke averaged a point-per-game, notching three goals and nine assists for 12 points. In his Sea Wolves debut on December 20, 2002 against Louisiana, Davyduke potted the fastest overtime goal in league history, tallying five seconds into overtime. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan represented the Sea Wolves at the 2003 ECHL All-Star Game. During the 2002-03 season, Davyduke also suited up for the Trenton Titans of the ECHL, and saw action in the American Hockey League for the Hershey Bears and Manchester Monarchs. He also attended the 2002 training camp of the National Hockey League St. Louis Blues.

Kim, 24, scored 22 goals and picked up 24 assists for 46 points while appearing in 61 games last season with Reading. He also accumulated 71 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Fullerton, California enters his second year of professional hockey.

Rouleau, 25, netted 11 goals and registered 19 assists for 30 points to go along with 30 penalty minutes in 70 games with Reading last season. On November 19, 2002 at Atlantic City, Rouleau scored three goals to become the second player in Royals history to register a hat trick. Entering his second season of pro hockey, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Davyduke has drawn interest from teams in the American Hockey League and this trade will give him an opportunity to showcase his talents up north, said Woods. Were getting two solid young players in return and I have high hopes for these guys. Alex Kim is very skilled and offensively gifted. Tom Rouleau has good size and did well last season posting 30 points.

The puck drops on Mississippis eighth ECHL season on Friday, October 17 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum against the Louisiana IceGators.
