Three Players Assigned From AHL Camps

BILOXI, Miss. � Mississippi Sea Wolves Professional Hockey announced today that three players, who took part in American Hockey League training camps, have been assigned to the team.

Left wing Anthony Battaglia rejoins Mississippi after competing at the Grand Rapids Griffins training camp. Defenseman Kerry Ellis-Toddington returns to the Sea Wolves after attending the training camp of the Manitoba Moose, while defenseman Rickard Oquist (RIH-kahrd OH-quihst), who was invited to the Chicago Wolves training camp, has been assigned to Mississippi and signed by the Sea Wolves.

Battaglia, 25, re-signed with the Sea Wolves on June 23.
The 6-foot and 195-pound Battaglia registered career-highs with Mississippi last season notching 23 goals, 14 assists and 37 points. A native of Chicago, Battaglia finished second on the team with six points in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, on the strength of two goals and four helpers in five games. Battaglia netted his first career hat trick, which was the Sea Wolves lone three-goal game last season, on January 23 against Augusta.

Ellis-Toddington, 25, re-signed with the Sea Wolves on September 23. The 6-foot-1 and 200-pound Ellis-Toddington was one of only two Mississippi players last season to appear in all 72 regular season games. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Ellis-Toddington netted nine goals and 35 points in the regular season, while registering a plus/minus of +12 to go along with 30 penalty minutes and in the postseason he scored a power-play marker in five games.

Oquist, 21, enters his first season of professional hockey in North America after playing last season with Botkyrka HC of the Swedish Division One League. The 6-foot and 195-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden registered one goal, two points and four penalty minutes in 11 games with Botkyrka.

With the addition of the Oquist signing, there are 25 players scheduled to take part in on-ice training camp sessions, which are open to the public, beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

The Sea Wolves begin their pursuit of the 2005 Kelly Cup at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, October 22 at home against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
