NHL Lockout Will Not Affect ECHL, Season Will Open On Schedule October 22

PRINCETON, N.J. The ECHL has announced that despite the National Hockey League lockout announced on Wednesday, the ECHLs playing season will not be affected and will begin as scheduled on Friday, October 22, 2004.

The NHL lockout impacts only players who are members of the NHL Players Association (NHLPA). Players in both the ECHL and the American Hockey League are members of the Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA) and are not directly impacted by Wednesdays announcement by the NHL.

While we all hope that the NHL labor situation is resolved as quickly as possible, it is important that ECHL fans know that our teams will be playing and we look forward to providing our 17th season of exciting ECHL action beginning October 22, said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna.

The Sea Wolves open their ninth ECHL season on October 22 against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Season ticket packages are on sale by calling (228) 275-WOLF or online at msseawolves.com. Starting at just $220, a ticket package includes 36 regular season home games, plus four playoff contests.
