Sea Wolves Re-Sign Hutchins

BILOXI, Miss. Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and coach Bob Woods announced today the team has re-signed left wing Jeff Hutchins. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Hutchins, 26, appeared in 48 games with Mississippi last season, tying the team lead with 11 power-play goals. The 6-foot and 205-pound Hutchins netted 26 goals overall with the Sea Wolves, 45 points, compiled a plus/minus of +15 and had 112 penalty minutes. He was runner up for InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for October 20-26, 2003. Hutchins played two games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League in December, picking up two penalty minutes. He received his second AHL call-up on February 18 with the Rochester Americans and signed a standard players contract on March 3. The native of Toronto, Ontario remained with Rochester through the Calder Cup Playoffs, appearing in a total of 25 games with the Americans, tallying one goal, five points and 74 penalty minutes.

Its a great honor to be able to come back to Mississippi, said Hutchins. Its a great place to play and great environment to develop. I hope to take the experience that I gained last season in the American Hockey League (with Houston and Rochester) and use it to my benefit this year.

Jeff had a taste of the AHL last year and he knows what it takes to play at that level, said Woods. Were happy that he wanted to re-sign with us. Hutchins is an impact player who brings scoring and grit to our roster.

Hutchins becomes the 13th player to sign with Mississippi for 2004-05, joining forwards Anthony Battaglia, Nicolas Corbeil, Bobby Cunningham, Lucas Drake, Louis Dumont, Travis Lisabeth, Tristan Lush, defensemen Mike Jarmuth, Mike Martone, Milt Mastad and Austin Miller along with goaltender Randy Hevey.

The Sea Wolves take to the ice for their first game of the season at home on October 22 against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
