BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) -- BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) -- Andrei Vasilyev and Dylan Gyori both scored to help the Idaho Steelheads capture the Kelly Cup in their first season in the ECHL with a 5-2 victory over the Florida Everblades in front of a sellout crowd of 5,374 on Saturday.
Vasilyev broke a 2-2 tie with 82 seconds left in the second period and Gyori added his fifth playoff goal 9:23 into the third for Idaho, which won the final series four games to one. Lance Galbraith knotted the score at one goal apiece with 2:03 remaining in the first period and David Bararuk scored midway through the second for the Steelheads, who finished the postseason with a 7-2 mark at home and a 13-5 record overall.
Dan Ellis, who was named Most Valuable Player of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, turned away 25 shots to raise his playoff record to 13-3.
Jared Newman opened the scoring 7:07 into the first period and Ryan Brindley netted a shorthanded marker with 8:59 remaining in the second for Florida, which was outscored in the series by a 17-10 margin.
Jeff Maund gave up four goals on 27 shots to suffer the loss.
