ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (Ticker) -- Barrie Moore and Robin Carruthers both tallied twice in the third period to help the Columbia Inferno defeat the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, 5-3, and win its first game in the best-of-seven Kelly Cup Finals.
Moore tied the game at 3-3 when he scored a shorthanded goal with 3:55 remaining in the contest and tallied another shorthanded marker 48 seconds later to supply Columbia with its first lead in the Finals.
With the Inferno trailing 3-1, Carruthers started a rally when he potted his seventh playoff goal with 6:57 left in the final stanza and added an empty-netter with 25 seconds remaining to secure the win.
Rejean Stringer chipped in with three assists in the game and now has 14 helpers in the playoffs.
Josh Blackburn made 35 saves in the game to earn his second win of the postseason for Columbia, which will attempt to tie the series at two games apiece on Monday in Atlantic City.
Kevin Colley tallied twice for the Boardwalk Bullies and Luke Curtin finished with a goal and an assist.
Scott Stirling made 23 saves in the loss and had his scoreless streak snapped at 171:41.
