Atlantic City's Stirling Makes 18 Saves In 1-0 Win, Bullies Lead Kelly Cup Finals 1-0 |
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Ticker) -- Scott Stirling stopped all 18 shots he saw and Scott Matzka notched the only goal of the game as the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies blanked the Columbia Inferno, 1-0, in the opening game of the Kelly Cup Finals.
Stirling recorded his second shutout of the playoffs, recording six saves in each period. Overall, he improved to 5-3 in eight postseason appearances.
Matzka scored his fifth goal in the playoffs 77 seconds into the third period for Atlantic City, which handed Columbia its first home loss of the playoffs.
Patrick Couture, who was 9-2 through the first three rounds of the postseason, had 30 saves for the Inferno, who will attempt to even the series at home on Friday.
