BILOXI, Miss. Mississippi Sea Wolves Professional Hockey announced today that the Second Annual Face-Off Against Kids Cancer event raised a team record $67,120 for Caps For Kids and Candlelighters.
Sponsored by Beau Rivage, Grand Casinos, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company, RPM Pizza (Dominos) and the Thanksgiving Charity Golf Classic, the proceeds were generated from the sale of commemorative T-shirts, a jersey auction, a silent auction and raffle tickets.
We are delighted to be able to raise money for two Gulf Coast pediatric cancer charities, Sea Wolves director of community relations Michelle Boynton said. As the host of the event, 24 children were encouraged by their local hockey heroes to win their fight against cancer, and 24 hockey players were inspired by children engaged in a battle they could not afford to lose. This was an experience they will always remember.
Caps For Kids is thrilled with the repeated success of Face-Off Against Kids Cancer, said Caps For Kids executive director Lauren Clement. The community has reaffirmed its commitment to our children and the Sea Wolves have once again made that happen.
