BILOXI, Miss. � The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced today that right wing Jack Baker has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve, while defenseman Chris Cava (KAHV-ah) transfers from the 7-day to 30-day injured reserve.
Baker, 24, has appeared in three games with Mississippi, posting a plus/minus of +1 and two penalty minutes. The 5-foot-9 and 170-pound Baker was acquired by the Sea Wolves in a trade with Florence on March 4 for futures. A native of Boston, Baker has also played with Augusta this season, accumulating a total of 37 games played, five goals, 18 points and 24 penalty minutes.
Cava, 23, has been on the injured reserve since February 22. A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Cava has tallied three goals, five points and 162 penalty minutes in 43 games. The 6-foot and 200-pound Cava is in his second season with the Sea Wolves after being acquired in a trade with Roanoke on August 15, 2002.
Mississippi gets back into action at 6:35 p.m. tonight against the Pensacola Ice Pilots at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Game coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. with the Nextel Pregame Show on ESPN Radio WXBD-AM 1490 and online at msseawolves.com.
