BILOXI, Miss. The Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League announced that they have signed left wing Jeff Hutchins to a standard players contract.
Hutchins, 25, has been on loan to Rochester from the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL since February 18. The 6-foot and 205-pound has appeared in eight games with the Americans collecting one goal, one assist, a plus/minus of +1 and 27 penalty minutes. With the Sea Wolves this season, Hutchins tallied 26 goals including a team-leading 11 power-play markers. He also notched 45 points, a plus/minus of +15 and 112 penalty minutes in 48 games. Hutchins was named Mississippis Player of the Month for October, 2003 and runner up for the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for October 20-26, 2003. He also played two games with the Houston Aeros of the AHL in December, accumulating two penalty minutes. Hutchins is in his second season of professional hockey.
Its great for Jeff and the Sea Wolves organization, said Bob Woods, Mississippis coach and director of hockey operations. Hutchins did more than we expected this season and we like to see guys get rewarded for doing well. Hes making the most of his opportunity at Rochester. Theres still a chance that he could be reassigned to us, but were not banking on it. Well make adjustments.
