PRINCETON, N.J. - Mississippi center Louis Dumont is the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for February 16-22.
Dumont scored eight points (4g-4a) as Mississippi went 2-1-0 to improve to 32-17-6 and second place in the Central Division. Dumont scored two goals in a 3-2 shootout win against Western Conference leader San Diego on February 17. He had a goal and three assists in a 7-6 loss to Texas on February 20 and scored a shorthand goal and added an assist in a 5-4 shootout win against Texas on February 21.
Dumont leads Mississippi with 27 goals and he has 66 points (27g-39a) in 55 games and is tied fourth in the ECHL in scoring with teammate Steffon Walby.
Dumont, who began his ECHL career in 1994, is the league career scoring leader with 736 points and ranks second with 453 career assists, seventh with 283 career goals and third with 617 career games. He passed Rod Taylor, who scored 689 points in 678 games from 1991-2003, on November 27 and needs seven assists to tie Chris Valicevic, who had 460 assists in 590 games from 1993-2002.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Dumont, who has played all but 10 of his professional games in North America in the ECHL, led the league in 2001-02 with 70 assists and 102 points for Pensacola. He was voted as a starter for the Southern Conference in the 2002 ECHL All-Star Game, where he won the fastest skater competition, and also earned First Team All-ECHL honors.
On behalf of Louis Dumont, a case of pucks will be donated to a Mississippi area youth hockey organization by InGlasCo.
