Mississippi Makes Four Roster Moves

BILOXI, Miss. The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced today that defenseman Andrei Lupandin (AHWN-dray lew-PAHN-dihn) has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve, defenseman Chris Cava (KAHV-ah) has been activated off the 7-day IR, Jody Green has signed as an emergency back-up goaltender and Chuck Thuss has been released as emergency back-up.

Lupandin, 25, returned to action last night in Mississippis 4-3 shootout loss against Columbia, after missing 10 games while on the injured reserve. The 5-foot-10 and 190-pound Lupandin notched an assist versus the Inferno and heads back on the IR with a total of 10 assists, 13 points and a plus/minus of +6 in 19 games this season.

Cava, 23, gets back into action after missing four games on the injured reserve. The 6-foot and 200-pound Cava has one assist, a plus/minus of +1 and 120 penalty minutes in 26 games this season.

Green, 19, becomes the first Mississippi-born player to suit up for the Sea Wolves at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The 6-foot and 180-pound Green was born in Gulfport, Mississippi. He has been in uniform for the Sea Wolves in three road games this season. Ironically, Green is Louisianas assistant equipment manager. Greg Gardner remains on recall to Rochester of the American Hockey League.

Thuss, 31, is in his third season as Mississippis Director of Player Development. The former goaltender played professionally for seven years, including four seasons with Mississippi. In 1998-99, Thuss won the Fan Favorite Award and was a member of the Sea Wolves ECHL Kelly Cup Championship team. The 31-year-old is Mississippis all-time goaltending leader with 58 wins and eight shutouts. In 120 contests with the Sea Wolves, Thuss compiled a 58-39-10 record, 2.88 goals against average and .911 save percentage.

The Sea Wolves hit the ice at 7:35 p.m. tonight against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Promotions include $2 drafts and $2 hotdogs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Teddy Bear Toss Night. Fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal to throw onto the ice immediately following the Sea Wolves first goal. The local police and fire department are the recipients. They will provide the stuffed animals for children at accident scenes and in times of crisis. The broadcast will start at 7:20 p.m. with the Nextel Pregame Show on WTNI-AM 1640 and online at www.msseawolves.com.
