Walby and Gauvreau Named ECHL All-Stars

BILOXI, Miss. The ECHL announced on Wednesday that Mississippi right wing Steffon Walby (STEHF-ihn WAHL-bee) and center Brent Gauvreau (GOHV-roh) have been selected as Starters for the Western Conference at the 2004 Par-A-Dice All-Star Game to be held in Peoria, Illinois on January 21.

Walby, 31, has been named a Starter for the ECHL All-Star Game for a second straight year. The 6-foot and 200-pound Walby is third in the ECHL with 36 points (14g-22a) and he is tied for fourth in the league with 14 goals.

Its even more special to be selected as an All-Star this season, said Walby. Peoria is only a couple hours from home in Madison, Wisconsin. I really dedicated myself this past offseason to show that I could produce again. Its a tremendous honor. Im also glad that Gavy (Brent Gauvreau) is going too. He deserves it.

Gauvreau, 23, makes his first-ever ECHL All-Star appearance. The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound Gauvreau leads the ECHL with 25 assists and is tied for the league lead with five game-winning goals while ranking second in scoring with 37 points (12g-25a).

With all the teams and players in the ECHL, its a great honor, said Gauvreau. Hopefully my linemate Steffon Walby and myself can put on a show. Its also been a while since Ive seen some snow. It should be exciting.
