BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods and general manager Mike Fitzpatrick announced today defenseman Ryan Clark re-signed for the 2002-03 season. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.
Clark, 24, played in 68 regular season games with Mississippi last year scoring one goal and adding nine assists to go along with 92 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound blueliner also suited up in three playoff games, totalling two penalty minutes. Clark is entering his second season of professional hockey after playing four years at Notre Dame.
"Mississippi is a great program and one other teams model themselves after," said Clark. "Coach Woods has done a great job and it's a good situation with the new ownership."
"Ryan threw some big bodychecks and played solid for us last year," said Woods. "Clark now has a full year of professional experience and I expect him to be even better this season."
Mississippi drops the puck on its seventh season as a member of the East Coast Hockey League on Saturday, October 12 at Baton Rouge.
The home opener for the Sea Wolves is at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 against intrastate rival Jackson.
