BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods announced today defenseman Chris Cava (CAH-vah) signed a one-year contract.
Cava, 22, was acquired in a trade with the Roanoke Express along with Derrick Byfuglien (BUHF-lehn) for future considerations on August 15. Last season, the 6-foot, 200-pound native of Thunder Bay, Ontario played 56 games with Roanoke picking up five assists and 179 penalty minutes. Cava is entering his second full season of professional hockey.
�I�m really looking forward to playing for the Sea Wolves,� said Cava. �I�ve heard a lot of good things about Mississippi. I�m prepared for the season and can�t wait until it starts.�
�Chris is an in-your-face type defenseman,� said Woods. �I expect him to make it miserable for the opposition.�
The Sea Wolves home opener is 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 against intrastate rival Jackson. Remember, there is free parking this season and tailgate parties for season ticket holders!
