BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods announced today defenseman Jason Crain has signed a one-year contract.
Crain, 22, attended the training camps of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League. He completed his collegiate career last season playing 40 games with Ohio State of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania scored five goals and picked up seven assists while accumulating 48 penalty minutes. Crain was selected by Los Angeles in the third round, 74th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
�Jason brings size and is a very mobile skater,� said Woods. �He comes highly recommended by former Sea Wolves coach Bruce Boudreau in Manchester and his agent, hockey hall-of-famer Bobby Orr.�
The Sea Wolves complete their preseason schedule tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. against the Pensacola Ice Pilots at the Pensacola Civic Center.
Mississippi�s home opener is at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 against intrastate rival Jackson.
