Buckley Placed On Injured Reserve; Thuss And Bennett Activated

BILOXI, Miss. � Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods announced today goaltender Mike Buckley has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve, while goaltender Chuck Thuss will serve as emergency backup and left wing Josh Bennett has been activated from the 7-day injured reserve.

Buckley, 25, injured his groin during last night�s game at Louisiana. The injury happened at 1:18 of the second period. Buckley made nine saves on 10 shots in his Sea Wolves debut.

Thuss, 30, officially retired on October 10, 2001. But during last season, he appeared in eight games for Mississippi posting a 4-2-1 record, 1.75 goals-against average and .936 save percentage. Thuss played professionally for seven seasons, including four campaigns with the Sea Wolves. Thuss is the Sea Wolves all-time team goaltending leader with 58 franchise wins and eight shutouts. In 120 contests with Mississippi, the native of Arkona, Ontario compiled a 58-39-10 record to go along with a 2.88 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.

Bennett, 22, is expected to make his professional hockey debut tonight against Pensacola. The 6-foot, 205-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario played 18 games last season for the University of Western Ontario in Canadian University hockey. Bennett scored one goal, collected four assists and accumulated 50 penalty minutes.

Tonight at 7:35 p.m., the Sea Wolves host the Pensacola Ice Pilots at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Military with I.D. will receive one free ticket, by purchasing one adult priced ticket.

Mississippi welcomes the Louisiana IceGators tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. at the Wolves Den. An adult purchasing an individual game ticket, receives one FREE ticket for a child 12 and under.
