PRINCETON, N.J. - Steffon Walby of the Mississippi Sea Wolves is the Sher-Wood East Coast Hockey League Player of the Month for October.
The 6-0 and 200-pound Walby led the ECHL in October with 12 assists and 17 points while helping the Sea Wolves to a 6-2-0 record and a tie for first place in the Southwest Division. Walby had two assists in each of the Sea Wolves first two games and scored his first goal and added an assist in a 4-2 loss at Louisiana on October 18. He scored two goals, including the game-winner, and had an assist in a 5-2 win over Pensacola on October 19 and had two assists in a 5-3 loss to Louisiana on October 20. He had a shorthand goal and two assists in a 5-4 win at Baton Rouge. Walby scored a point in each of the first six games before being held scoreless in a 3-2 shootout win against Pensacola on October 26. He closed out the month with a goal and two assists in a 4-1 win over Baton Rouge on October 27.
Walby earned First-Team All-ECHL honors in 2001-02 after finishing second in the ECHL with 42 goals and third in scoring with 93 points in 63 games for the Sea Wolves.
