Sea Wolves Skate Past Ice Pilots 4-1

PENSACOLA, Fla. � The Mississippi Sea Wolves scored three power play goals to power past the Pensacola Ice Pilots, 4-1.

The Sea Wolves remain in second place in the Southwest Division, pulling to within one point of first place Louisiana.

Pensacola (12-7-4) opened the score at 19:26 of the first period. Ice Pilots� Gaetan Royer let go with a turnaround shot in traffic, which eluded goaltender Greg Gardner. Royer�s fifth of the year, made it 1-0 for Pensacola.

Mississippi (16-9-2) responded in the middle stanza at 5:53 on the power play. Sea Wolves Jim Baxter fired a shot from the right point, Cody Bowtell re-directed past Maxime Gingras. Bowtell�s 10th of the year, tied the score 1-1.

At 10:05 of the second period, the Sea Wolves grabbed the lead by scoring another goal with the man advantage. Travis Lisabeth converted on pass from Baxter. Lisabeth�s ninth of the campaign made it 2-1 Mississippi.

At the end of the second, Ice Pilots� Greg Pankewicz was assessed a two-minute minor penalty for crosschecking.

Just 10 seconds into the third, Kent Davyduke made Pensacola pay. The rookie ripped a one-timer from the right circle past Gingras. Davyduke�s second goal in as many games and ninth of the year, gave Mississippi a 3-1 lead.

Sea Wolves� Bowtell would round out the score, tallying an empty-net goal at 19:25.

Gardner turned away 34-of-35 Pensacola shots, improving his record 13-7-2. Gingras stopped 21, falling to 9-6-4.

Mississippi converted on 3-of-6 power play opportunities. Pensacola went 0-for-7 with the man advantage.
