BILOXI, Miss. � The Mississippi Sea Wolves were victorious in one of the two games over the weekend, maintaining second place in the Southwest Division.
Mississippi dropped a 4-2 decision at Arkansas on Friday. The Sea Wolves bounced back by beating Jackson on the road, 5-4.
After 41 games, the Sea Wolves are 24-13-4. Mississippi has 52 points, which is two points behind Louisiana for first place in the Southwest Division. At home, Mississippi has posted a 14-7-3 record. The Sea Wolves are 10-6-1 on the road.

The last meeting between the teams was a 4-1 victory for Mississippi at Baton Rouge on December 14. Sea Wolves rookie Jeff Hutchins tallied the game-winner and goaltender Sean Matile made 30 saves, outdueling Kingfish goalie Brian Leitza, who turned away 19.
The Sea Wolves are 2-1 at home against the Kingfish this season. Mississippi won the last meeting at the Wolves Den, 5-3 on November 28. Dave Paradise scored the game-winning goal for the Sea Wolves.

Baton Rouge veteran blueliner Steve Cheredaryk has two goals and three helpers in five games against the Sea Wolves.

The Sea Wolves are 4-0-0 against the Bandits at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum this season. The last meeting at Biloxi, Mississippi edged Jackson 4-3 on December 29. Dave Paradise scored the game-winner and Greg Gardner backstopped Mississippi to victory by making 24 saves. Bandits� all-star goaltender Adam Hauser suffered the loss in net for Jackson.
All-Star right wing Steffon Walby leads the Sea Wolves with nine goals and six assists in six games against the Bandits. Walby also has a plus-9 rating. All-star defenseman Jim Baxter has collected 11 assists in nine games.
Jackson forward Brent Gauvreau picked up four points (1g-3a) in the Sea Wolves 5-4 win on Saturday. Gauvreau has two goals and three assists in four games against his former Mississippi team this season.

All-Star defenseman Jim Baxter collected points in both of the Sea Wolves games last week, extending his point streak to 10 (3g-11a). The 23-year-old native of Brantford, Ontario picked up an assist in the Friday loss at Arkansas. Baxter scored a power play goal and collected an assist in the win at Jackson on Saturday.
Goaltender of the Week:
Greg Gardner posted a record of 1-1 in Mississippi�s two games last week. The 27-year-old native of Mississauga, Ontario is second among East Coast Hockey League goaltenders with 19 wins. Gardner has an overall record of 19-10-4 this season.
