Where Is He Now? Francois Beauchemin

Former Mississippi Sea Wolves defenseman Francois Beauchemin is in his first season with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim of the National Hockey League.

Anaheim acquired the 25-year-old Beauchemin on November 15, 2005 in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets along with Tyler Wright for Sergei Fedorov.

In the regular season with the Blue Jackets and Mighty Ducks, Beauchemin netted a total of eight goals, including three game-winning tallies and 28 assists for 36 points in 72 games to go along with 52 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot and 215-pound Beauchemin has been a key contributor on the Mighty Ducks blueline helping the team stay alive in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a seven-game series win over the Calgary Flames and a four-game sweep of the Colorado Avalanche.

Heading into the third-round series against the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Finals, the native of Sorel, Quebec has recorded two goals and five helpers for seven points in 11 postseason contests, while accumulating nine penalty minutes.

During the 2001-02 season, Beauchemin appeared in seven games with Mississippi, where he notched one game-winning goal and three assists.

Selected in the third round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, Beauchemin made his NHL debut with the Habs on February 27, 2003.
