BILOXI, Miss. � Bob Woods, Mississippi Sea Wolves head coach and director of hockey operations announced on Thursday that forward Mike Scott has been traded to the Alaska Aces for future considerations.
Scott, 26, set Mississippi rookie records last season by scoring 26 goals and adding 41 assists for 67 points. He was named ECHL Rookie of the Month for February, 2003 (14 gp, 8g, 14a, 22 pts) and selected as Mississippi�s 2002-03 Rookie of the Year. The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound native of Calgary, Alberta had an eight-game point streak (7g-10a) from February 13 to March 1, 2003 and a nine-game point streak (3g-9a) from January 11 to February 6, 2003. He was named Sea Wolves Rookie of the Month for November, December, January, February and March. Scott was acquired in a trade from the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies on October 29, 2002.
�Mike Scott asked to be traded to Alaska due to an off-ice business opportunity in Anchorage,� said Woods. �He played his college at the University of Alaska-Anchorage and he has business interests that he wants to pursue. I hate to see him go, but I didn�t want to step in his way.�
The Sea Wolves season opener is Friday, October 17 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum against the Louisiana IceGators.
