 BILOXI, Miss. � Former Mississippi Sea Wolves goaltender Phil Sauve, who was playing with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, has been acquired in a trade by the Phoenix Coyotes with center Steven Reinprecht for goaltender Brian Boucher and left wing Mike Leclerc.
The 25-year-old Sauve appeared in 21 regular season games with Mississippi in 2004-05, posting two shutouts, a 13-4-3 record with a 2.59 goals-against average and .923 save percentage. In four postseason contests, Sauve compiled a 1-3 record to go along with a 4.23 goals-against average and .904 save percentage.
Sauve played in eight games this season with Calgary registering a 3-3-0 record, 3.28 goals-against average and .891 save percentage. The 6-foot and 188-pound netminder is in his second NHL season. Sauve�s previous NHL campaign came in 2003-04 with the Colorado Avalanche when he accumulated a 7-7-3 record, 3.04 goals-against average and .896 save percentage in 17 games.
Sauve played in parts of four seasons with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League from 2000-04. He was named Hershey�s team MVP for three consecutive seasons from 2000-01 to 2002-03. The Buffalo, New York native was originally drafted by Colorado in the 2nd round (38th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. |
