 BILOXI, Miss. � The Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL announced today that account executive Thom Emerson has accepted a position as sales account executive with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.
Thom and his wife Jo, and son Trey, rode out Hurricane Katrina but lost their apartment and possessions and were forced to live outside their home in Biloxi for one week.
�I am very thankful that my family and I are alive after Hurricane Katrina,� said Emerson. �Something really good came out of a bad situation. I appreciate the Sea Wolves experience and wish everyone all the best in Mississippi. I am very grateful for the Stars giving me a fresh start and look forward to making the most of it.�
�We are happy that things have worked out great for Thom,� said Jesse Martin, Sea Wolves general manager. �He was a valuable employee that made positive contributions to our sales efforts. We wish Thom and his family all the best in Big D.�
After retiring from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service, Emerson was hired by the Sea Wolves this past summer. A native of Berrien Springs, Michigan, Emerson�s background included six years of Navy Recruiting experience consisting of numerous awards and accolades.
Emerson becomes the third non-player in Sea Wolves team history to advance to the NHL along with former Mississippi equipment manager Scott Moon, who has been with the New York Islanders since the 2002-03 season and Step Roberts, who is the assistant athletic trainer of the Atlanta Thrashers. There have been eight Sea Wolves alumni players that have made the NHL highlighted by the 2003-04 Rookie of the Year runner-up Michael Ryder of the Montreal Canadiens. |
