 ANAHEIM, Calif. � The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim of the National Hockey League announced that they have acquired former Mississippi Sea Wolves left wing Trevor Gillies and a conditional draft pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft from the New York Rangers in exchange for center Steve Rucchin.
In his rookie season in 1999-2000, Gillies had 202 penalty minutes and six assists in 53 games with Mississippi and 38 penalty minutes in eight games with Lowell of the American Hockey League. The 6-3 and 220-pound Gillies has played in the ECHL with Mississippi, Greensboro, Augusta, Richmond and Peoria from 1999-2003, accumulating 1,025 penalty minutes while scoring 16 points (1g-15a) in 210 games.
The 26-year-old Gillies led Hartford of the American Hockey League in 2004-05 with 277 penalty minutes while also recording two assists in 49 games. The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound Gillies has six points (2g-4a) and 745 penalty minutes in 148 career AHL games.
Mississippi opens its 10th Anniversary season on the road at Pensacola on Friday, October 22.
The Sea Wolves drop the puck on their home opener is on Friday, October 28 against Texas at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
