CALGARY, Alberta � The Calgary Flames announced that they have acquired Phil Sauve (SOH-vay), who played for the Mississippi Sea Wolves in 2004-05, from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a conditional seventh round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

In 2004-05 with Mississippi, the 25-year-old Sauve was 13-4-4 with two shutouts, a team-leading goals-against average of 2.59 and a save percentage of .923 which tied for the team lead.

Sauve was one of 10 players who played all or most of their games in the National Hockey League in 2003-04 who played in the ECHL in 2004-05.

Selected in the second round (38th overall) by Colorado in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Sauve was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2004 NHL Young Stars Game, turning aside 18-of-21 shots in the Western Conference�s 7-3 win at St. Paul, Minn. He was 7-7-3 with a goals-against average of 3.04 and a save percentage of .896 in 17 games with Colorado of the National Hockey League in 2003-04.

Son of former NHL goaltender Bob Sauve, Phil Sauve was 3-7-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.59 and a save percentage of .910 in 10 games with Hershey of the American Hockey League in 2003-04.

Mississippi opens its 10th Anniversary season on the road at Pensacola on Friday, October 22.

The Sea Wolves home opener is on Friday, October 28 against Texas at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
