Sea Wolves Re-Sign Cava
BILOXI, Miss. Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and head coach Bob Woods announced today that the team has re-signed defenseman Chris Cava (KAHV-ah).

Cava, 24, returns for his fourth year with Mississippi and fifth full professional season. The 6-foot and 200-pound Cava notched c
areer highs with the Sea Wolves last season in goals (7), assists (22), points (29) and games played (65).  Named runner-up for ECHL Player of the Week from January 10-16, Cava also registered three assists on February 22 against Columbia and tallied a pair of goals at Alaska on December 19. A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Cava holds the Mississippi team record for penalty minutes by a defenseman in one season with 223 in 2002-03.

It feels good to come back to a great organization, said Cava. The coaches and fans know what I bring to the team and I will continue to supply it. I plan on taking more of a leadership role this year and you can be sure that I will be ready for the season.

Chris had a terrific season last year reaching several career highs, said Woods. He is one of our core players that played in a lot of key situations. Cava is a vocal leader on and off the ice and a great guy to have back on our team.

The signing of Cava gives Mississippi three players under contract for 2005-06 including left wing Anthony Battaglia and right wing Jay Legault.

The Sea Wolves open their 10th Anniversary Season on October 22 at Pensacola, before dropping the puck on their home opener on October 28 versus Texas at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
