Sea Wolves Equipment Manager Heads To AHL
BILOXI, Miss.  Mississippi Sea Wolves general manager and head coach Bob Woods announced today that equipment manager Greg Sieg (SEEG) has accepted a position in the American Hockey League as the equipment manager for the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, the primary affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League.

Its a dream come true, said Sieg. The years working in the game are starting to pay off. It was definitely an advantage working with the Mississippi coaches (head coach Bob Woods and associate coach Steffon Walby) learning more about professionalism. Everyone works well together in the Sea Wolves organization, from the hockey operations department to the players and into the front office. It was a season that Ill always remember.

Greg did a great job and we enjoyed having him work for the Sea Wolves, said Woods. We know hes ready for the next level and hell be an asset to Omaha. Not only was Sieg a good employee, but also a good friend. On behalf of Mississippi, I would like to wish Greg, and his wife Cynthia, all the best.

Hired by the Sea Wolves in September, 2004, Sieg came to the team from the Jacksonville Barracudas, where he served as an equipment manager with the World Hockey Association 2 Champions in 2003-04 after spending three seasons in the same capacity with the Louisiana IceGators of the ECHL from 2000-03.

A native of Penticton, British Columbia, Sieg worked two seasons as the athletic trainer/equipment manager in his home province for the Vernon Vipers, including being part of the 1996 Canadian Junior 'A' National Championship.

During the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons, Sieg was equipment manager for back-to-back championships with the El Paso Buzzards in the Western Professional Hockey League.  In 1998-99, he took on the dual role of athletic trainer/equipment manager with the WPHLs Amarillo Rattlers and then worked for Corpus Christi of the WPHL in 1999-00.

Sieg also has experience working training camps for the NHL Nashville Predators and Houston Aeros of the AHL. He has an Associates Degree in Physical Education and Social Science from Capilano College, and a B.A. in Sports Medicine from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.

Sieg becomes the third Mississippi equipment manager to advance in the hockey world joining Rob Flahiff (2000-01, Grand Rapids Griffins of the former International Hockey League) and Scott Moon (2002-03, New York Islanders of the NHL).

The search for Mississippis new equipment manager begins immediately.
