Mississippi Sea Wolves Release 2005-06 Schedule

BILOXI, Miss. � The Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL released their 72-game schedule for the 2005-06 regular season.

The Sea Wolves will open their 10th Anniversary Season on the road on Saturday, October 22 at Pensacola versus the Ice Pilots at the Pensacola Civic Center.

Mississippi�s home opener will be played on Friday, October 28 against the rival Texas Wildcatters at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

The first appearance by rival Gwinnett is on November 4, which will mark the first game between the teams since the 2005 American Conference Quarterfinals series, won by the Gladiators 3 games to 1.

The first home game versus longtime rival Pensacola will be played on Thanksgiving, November 24.

Kelly Cup finalist and the longtime rival Florida Everblades visit the Wolves Den on October 30.

The majority of the Sea Wolves home games, 22-of-36, are against South Division rivals including six home games each versus Pensacola and Texas, while Florida and Gwinnett will each make five appearances in Mississippi.

Three teams will visit the Mississippi Coast Coliseum for the first time this season. The Alaska Aces come to the Wolves Den on November 5 in the only meeting of the season between the teams, after the Sea Wolves went 2-1-0 in Anchorage last season. The Bakersfield Condors fly in for a December 2 contest, while the Phoenix Roadrunners, a new member of the ECHL, pay a visit on January 31.

The Sea Wolves have 26 of their 36 home games on the weekend, consisting of 13 Friday home dates, nine on Saturday and four on Sunday. In addition, Mississippi�s 2005-06 home schedule features nine Tuesday�s and one Thursday, which is the Thanksgiving, November 24 home game against Pensacola.

An overview of Mississippi�s monthly home games feature
two in October, five for November, December has eight home dates, January consists of five, February also features five, there are eight in March and three home games in the month of April.

Mississippi has two homestands of five-games each in 2005-06. The first homestand of five straight home games runs over a period from December 6-16, while the other goes from March 28 to April 8, which are the final five games of the regular season.

The Sea Wolves have two lengthy road trips this season. The longest is a seven-game swing from November 6-18, starting with one-game in Texas, then flying to Boise, Idaho for three, before traveling to California for two games in San Diego and one in Bakersfield. The other significant road trip lasts six-games in the Carolina�s from February 4-12, consisting of two games in Charleston, South Carolina, a pair in Columbia and one each in Greenville and Charlotte.

The ECHL welcomes three new members, the Phoenix Roadrunners, who travel to Mississippi on January 31, while the others are the Stockton (California) Thunder and Utah (West Valley City) Grizzlies.

The league has 27 teams in 16 states and one in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada playing 972 games in 2005-06.

The season will open league-wide on October 21 and end April 8 with each team playing 36 home games and 36 road games.

The division and conference alignments and the format for the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be announced following the Annual Board of Governors Meeting on June 21-22.
