ESTERO, Fla. � Leon Hayward scored a goal and had two assists and Andrew Allen made 21 saves to help the Trenton Titans capture the Kelly Cup Championship with a 4-1 win over the Florida Everblades in front of a record standing-room-only crowd of 7,805 on Wednesday.
Hayward gave Trenton a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 13:09 of the first period, assisted by Nick Deschenes and Paul Brown. Rick Kowalsky made it 2-0 with a goal at 19:51 of the first, assisted by Steve Munn and Hayward.
Keith Anderson made it 2-1 with a goal at 2:07 of the second period, assisted by Ernie Hartlieb and Kris Vernarsky.
Michael Schutte made it 3-1 with a goal at 2:51 of the third period, assisted by Hayward. Deschenes closed out the scoring with a goal at 10:54 of the third, assisted by B.J. Abel.
Allen picked up his 14th win of the Kelly Cup Playoffs while Tyler MacKay made 21 saves in the loss.
